Introducing Ciclos Major

TItle sponsor for 2024

Hey everyone! I interrupt your regular twice monthly programming to bring you this short bonus bulletin to share an important announcement, along with a link to an article I hope you’ll enjoy.

Firstly, I’m proud to introduce the new title sponsors of the writebikerepeat newsletter – Ciclos Major. As those of you who have been following me for a while know, I remain committed to producing entertaining and informative FREE pro cycling content, and as such it’s a huge boost to be able to partner with a company who are a great fit with my ethos, another small business with the best interests of bike enthusiasts at heart. Here’s a bit more about them.

Ciclos Major are a company providing bespoke cycling trips to the island of Mallorca, catering for all abilities from competitive cyclists and triathletes, to those who prefer a slower pace.

The company offer a wide range of benefits to cyclists looking to enjoy active trips to the island, with dedicated client care from the moment you leave the airport. This includes transfers, accommodation, hire bikes (if required) and daily guided rides led by one of a team of experienced guides, who cover routes both through the mountains and on the relatively flat roads in the centre of Mallorca.

They provide a free musette with cycling energy food, bidons and some bespoke kit, and have a support car on hand to help you out in the event of any mechanical issues.

There is a choice of two hotels to stay in, the 4-star Zafiro Tropic or the 5-star Zafiro Place in Alcudia, with no restrictions on arrival or departure date or on length of stay. Trips are suitable for individuals, small groups of friends, or larger groups or clubs (group discounts are available). Non athletes and families are also welcome at discounted rates.

A trusted Tour Operator for the Mallorca 312 sportive, Ciclos Major have a number of guaranteed entries to the 312 each year. (Though 2024 entries are already sold out).

They become title sponsor of the newsletter for 2024 and as a thank you for your loyalty to the newsletter, they have agreed to offer a 5% discount to writebikerepeat subscribers on all cycling holidays booked using a unique booking form that I will share with you in next week’s full newsletter.

Secondly, as Mark Cavendish begins his racing calendar today at the Tour of Colombia, I’d like to share with you a piece from the website featuring interviews with two of the key lead-out men who helped Cav to equal Eddy Merckx’s record number of Tour de France stage victories back in 2021. Then with QuickStep, Michael Mørkøv and Davide Ballerini were vital cogs in the team that led Cav to victory and this year, reunited at Astana, they have ‘one job’ – to try and take the record outright, by helping Cav win stage number 35 at this summer’s Tour de France.

Read about how the transfers came about (did Cav really call Mørkøv from the ambulance after his crash at last year’s Tour?), why Mørkøv thinks Cav is one of the most talented sprinters ever (hint: it’s not just because he’s fast), and what they rate as the biggest challenges to their goal, along with much more, in this in-depth interview piece. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for reading this short bulletin, see you next week with the full newsletter.

All the best,

Katy
